As Christians we believe that in life there are some things you are never sure of but one thing is certain…we will all die. We also believe what the Bible says…that we all will appear before the judgment of God. (2 Corinthians 5:10 and Hebrews 9:27) However, Jesus Christ died on the cross to atone for, that is, pay for our sins, and therefore through faith in this sacrifice, the believer will stand guiltless before God upon their death and will be judged sinless.

If you believe in our Triune God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and that the Son, Jesus, is your Lord and Savior giving his life so that you may be forgiven and live eternally, then you are saved unto eternal life in heaven!

As Lutherans, we believe that the Bible must be accepted as the perfect, inerrant Word of God, and as such, we believe and confess that it must be accepted and believed in its entirety even if human reason can’t comprehend it. To fully articulate what we as Lutherans confess, Martin Luther created the phrase: By Grace Alone, By Faith Alone, By Scripture Alone. In short, that we are saved unto eternal life by God’s grace and that we appropriate this gift by faith in the promises made by God contained within the Holy Scriptures.

Emanuel is a member of a Synod or group of congregations that number over 6,000 with nearly 2.2 million members. The name “Lutheran” signifies not a cultic following of Martin Luther the 16th century reformer, but rather faithfulness to Jesus Christ and his word found in the Bible and the Good News that he died to take away the sins of all people. (Hebrews 9:28 and John 3:16-18)

We place the doctrine of “justification” that we are made “just/perfect” in the sight of God through faith in Christ and what he did as the center of our teaching and preaching.
